Visit to the summer house

Society/Short Film, Germany 2020

For their film, the class is exploring the history of the former summer home of the Alexander family, which is located very close to the school on Groß Glienicker See. The Jewish Alexander family emigrated to Great Britain after the Nazis came to power. After that, the house had various residents. The students tell the eventful history of the house using VHS archive material from a visit by Elsie Alexander to her parents' former summer house in the 1990s, which they edit together with their own footage of the house, now converted into a museum, and its unique architecture. They capture the play of sunlight on the floor, the sounds of the house and garden, and the wind in the trees in such a way that one can imagine what it must have been like to live in this house.
