Normal anders

Short Film/Society, Germany 2019

Living with giftedness is nothing new for the Wittbrodt family from Ludwigsburg. The giftedness of their children Mira (11) and David (13) has been known to both of them since the first grade. What sounds special at first glance often becomes a pitfall in normal everyday life. Mira is a bit of a perfectionist and knows what she can do. Like many gifted children, she is impatient with herself and has too high expectations of herself. David's favorite subject is math, but even though he is very good at cognitive skills, he is even more lacking in social skills. The Wittbrodt family also has something that others don't have: Their invented world, which has its own currency, laws and even taxes.
