Mistral Spatial

Romance/Drama, Canada 2022

The evening of his break-up with Cath, Sam is victim of an inexplicable phenomenon where he loses consciousness for few hours later. Could his heartbreak be related to the hypothesis of an alien abduction? The director explains: “With this film, I wanted to explore the quest for the elusive, to film what cannot be filmed—transparency, sound—in order to offer an experience of surrender and letting go. There is me, as a filmmaker, who had to trust myself and refuse to be guided by fear to realize this project. There is the character, who experiences this learning process on screen. Finally, there is the viewer. The further the film progresses, the more I establish conventions that force the viewer to surrender to what they see, to stop trying to understand and analyze everything, to enter into symbiosis with the protagonist.” (Interview published in Le Devoir in January 2023)
