Yemen is considered one of the most beautiful countries in the Middle East - and at the same time a country full of problems. Scimitars and Kalashnikovs characterize the male world and its propensity for violence. Weapons, the drug khat and scarce water resources are the main sources of business in the country and the cause of bloody rivalries between the tribes. Beyond the capital Sanaa, the central government has no say in the matter, not even against the blood feud practiced in many places. The image of women is medieval, and any attempt at female self-determination is nipped in the bud. In an atmosphere of poverty, violence and corruption, one man tries to mediate between the clans, tribes and sexes.
