Seventeen-year-old Fanny from Strasbourg travels to Leipzig to visit Lena, who is the same age and dreams of becoming a political activist. To get Lena's attention, the shy Fanny invents a more exciting life. But as a tender friendship develops between the two, the political and familial tensions in Lena's family, as well as the challenges in Fanny's life in Strasbourg, force them to face their own identities.
