Chukotka is a remote region in northeastern Russia and hardly populated by humans. Tens of thousands of gray whales migrate along the coast here every summer. A natural cycle that has also determined the life of the indigenous people - the Chukchi - for generations. Hunting whales is their life. The last Chukchi have been allowed by the International Whaling Commission to kill about 140 gray whales per year.
