Devises citoyennes

Knowledge/Politics, France 2015

Creating money is not a privilege reserved for state banks alone. Since 2010, local complementary currencies have been issued across France as tools to boost the local economy, promote regional culture, encourage sustainable development, and rebuild social ties. Around 30 are currently in circulation across the country, at regional, departmental, and city levels. This documentary explores this rapidly growing phenomenon, immersing us in two leading examples: the Galléco in Ille-et-Vilaine and the Eusko in the French Basque Country.
