Bürglkopf

Germany/Austria 2025

At an altitude of 1,300 meters, the Bürglkopf return center is located in a remote location on the mountain of the same name in Tyrol. People in the asylum process are supposed to be persuaded to leave Austria with return counseling, but above all under the pressure of isolation. The idyllic Alpine landscape becomes the scene of a bizarre encounter between refugees, villagers, and tourists, as the nearest mountains in Kitzbühel are primarily used for winter sports. While state-of-the-art gondolas transport holidaymakers from all over the world to the peaks, the inhabitants of Bürglkopf have to walk three hours to get from the camp to the valley. The film provides an insight into Europe's isolationist policy, which culminates in return centers and deportation camps.
