Ateliers urbains : Le Parti du Rêve de Logement

Politics/Society, Belgium 2016

Having left their hometown in Belgium or their country of origin, a group of people cross Brussels in search of housing. They encounter refusals, humiliations and scams... From this injustice, the idea is born to take democracy seriously by creating their own political party to defend the right to housing for all. They are far from suspecting the success that the party will have... The members of ALARM are co-authors of this film directed by Peter Snowdon and shot with a small professional crew. The dialogues were improvised in front of the camera, the script regularly revised and the editing progressively validated, an involvement reminiscent of the film's final scene: ‘Instead of just being spectators, we become actors’. In 2001, a group of families founded the ALARM Group to campaign for the right to housing for all.
