Stan and Ollie inherit an unknown island in the Pacific Ocean from their filthy rich uncle. Full of pride, the two set sail to find their island. In the middle of the sea, the ship capsizes and the newly minted sailors are stranded on an atoll. But when uranium is suddenly discovered on one of the small islands, their peace and quiet comes to an end... Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, known as “Laurel and Hardy,” are considered one of the most famous comedy duos in film history. “Atoll K” was their last slapstick comedy after they had not made a film together for five years. Instead, the two US actors toured the US and Europe with a stage show, where they received the offer to shoot “Atoll K” in 1950. The script was completely reworked by Stan Laurel – with the support of US director John Berry, who, denounced as a communist before the Committee on Un-American Activities, could no longer find work in Hollywood and therefore continued his career in Europe. Neither of them was credited as writers in the credits. The filming itself was also marked by problems: in addition to the two comedians' recent illnesses and Stan Laurel's hospitalization during filming, there were communication problems on set, as Laurel and Hardy did not speak French and director Joannon spoke very little English.
