The Liberty Dance Team entertains the audience of Germany's First National Basketball League during breaks of the game. SHOWTIME immerses us in the ambivalent sport of cheerleading: On the one hand, stereotypical gender roles shine brightly in the spotlight - at the same time, we experience a dance team that performs with self-determination and radiates sparkling passion for the sport. The troupe members who train at Stuttgart's NEW YORK CITY DANCE SCHOOL want to be recognized as professional hip-hop dancers. The see themselves as strong female role models and representatives of a modern society. Dancers EMMA, CARO and NADIA laugh off accusations of practicing a sexist and outdated sport.
