This film was commissioned by the city of Leipzig and reports on the economic and cultural reconstruction of the city, which was badly destroyed by the war. Historical buildings such as St. Thomas Church, German Library or the Conservatory attest to Leipzig's cultural traditions. Highlights include a concert by the Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Franz Konwitschny and a performance by the St. Thomas Choir under Günther Ramin.
