History/Society, France 2022

How can we talk about the Holocaust in the 21st century? Can it still resonate with the younger generations? As the last witnesses disappear, will places of remembrance and history books end up becoming the only repositories of this past? For the duration of a school year, the film follows 9th grade students who, with their teacher, are participating in the “Convoy 77” project by conducting a real investigation to reconstruct the life of a deportee from the last major convoy that left Drancy for Auschwitz. Caroline, Sarah, Mory, Mauricio, Salomé and Guillaume are teenagers torn between their family heritage and the emergence of their own view of the world. Between indifference and awareness, detachment and emotion, the story of the genocide of the Jews begins to resonate in unexpected ways when links are forged with their own history.
