Marc Aurel-Strasse in Vienna: there is the last Jewish merchant in the former textile district, the Iranian hotelier, the Café Salzgries with its regulars. From summer 1999 to spring 2000, Ruth Beckermann made short trips to her own front door and explored her surroundings with her camera. The film is also a document of the political change that occurred when the extreme right-wing FPÖ came to power.
