The Flashing Blade

Chevalier de Recci and his servant Guillot want to put all their eggs in one basket. Day and night, the fortress of Casel is under fire from the Spanish troops. The French garrison is at the end of its tether. They will only be able to withstand the siege for a few more days. All the messengers sent out to bring news to France and to summon help have been captured by the Spanish. No living creature has been able to pass through the Spanish lines unseen.
