With the turn of the millennium, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings hit the big screen. Musical film adaptations made a comeback with Moulin Rouge and Chicago. Pixar encouraged adults to watch animated films, including Monster AG and Up. The indie directors of the older generation, such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino and Sofia Coppola, continue to make a name for themselves. Films such as There Will Be Blood, Inglourious Basterds or Lost In Translation are created. Will Ferrell makes the leap from Saturday Night Live to the big screen.
