In the final season, the problems in the White Stag Park, to which the animals of the cleared Thalerwald forest have fled, continue: a new leader, the moody stag Rek, makes life difficult for the community when the big White Stag dies as a result of a poisoned river. In addition, a horde of rats invades the nature reserve. The popular animated series tells an engaging story about the destructive interventions of humans in nature and the "rat tail" that accompanies the destruction of ecosystems. In a future that will be shaped by the destruction of the present, educating children about sustainability, nature conservation and climate protection is becoming increasingly important. In the mid-1990s, as many as 130 magazine issues were published under the title 'Die Tiere aus dem Talerwald' (The Animals from the Taler Forest), in which, among other things, the topics of nature and the environment were presented to young readers. We can only hope that the message of "When the animals left the forest" will not only catch on with children, but also with adults. Because one thing is clear: if the animals start to leave their ecosystems, then we humans will soon be leaving this planet. The new leader in the white deer park is called Rek. Unlike his predecessor, the big white deer, he is moody, unpleasant and not well disposed towards the Thalerwald animals. He even goes so far as to drive weasels and wusels out of the park. Meanwhile, another group of animals makes its way into the nature reserve. It is an army of gray, long-tailed rats, commanded by the crazy Bulli. But with all the coming and going, the animals still have time for spring fever. Otter falls in love with Schlängler, Wiesel is in different circumstances, and the owl is on the lookout for her dream man.
