The charming clergyman Sidney Chambers and DI Geordie Keating are back and facing new challenges as “partners in crime.” It's 1954, Sidney has put his war experiences behind him and is leading a good life. Alcohol and self-doubt have given way to his duties as a priest and his devotion to his parish. But things are never simple, and when Sidney is accused of a crime, the whole village is on tenterhooks waiting for the culprit to be exposed. But there is also a ray of hope: Sidney's love life is taking a turn for the better in the form of a new girlfriend, although his ongoing friendship with Amanda complicates matters. --------- Sidney is accused by Harding Redmond, the father of 15-year-old Abigail, of sexually abusing his daughter. Shortly afterwards, Abigail is found murdered. Everything points to Sidney being the perpetrator.
